Surf's Up is all about serving our world!
Here are a few of the regular or annual service projects in which the children of Surf's Up participate.
Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child, a program of
Samaritan's Purse, delivers shoeboxes filled with toys and other items as Christmas presents to children around the world. Families and churches all over our country participate in this great venture and we at Surf's Up have chosen this as one of our annual service projects. All three of our clubs participate! If your child is not in one of our clubs, you can prepare the box at home and deliver it to the church by the date announced.
Special Kid'sQuest Project:
Acres of Hope: Kid'sQuest is collecting coins for
Acres of Hope, a humanitarian organization focusing its energy and resources to meet the needs of the people in Africa suffering from hunger, poverty, disease, illiteracy, and despair. Serving globally with compassion and maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability, Acres of Hope will effectively demonstrate God's love by bringing hope to the hopeless through work and action.
Special Breakout Project:
Rancho de Sus Ninos: Our Breakout Club sponsors 6 children at the
Rancho de Sus Ninos orphanage. Every month we take an offering and send letters to our supported children. Additionally, we take a team of graduating 5th graders and one of their parents every June to serve at the orphanage campus in any number of ways including presenting puppet shows, sharing our faith stories, doing light construction, and going into the neighboring communities.
Special for June 2009! Our usual Mexico trip was cancelled due to unfavorable current events on the border. So this year our Breakout 5th grader grads and a parent are making their way to serve victims of last year's devastating tornado in Neosha, MO. The town was hit hard and recovery efforts have been slow. We will be engaging in yard clean-up, light construction projects, and visitng some church kid's groups.
