“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

As we think about the life of a youth worker, one word keeps repeating in our head: exhausting. You might be feeling this way right about now as you are just trying to make it through the next few months. You think to yourself, “If I can just get to June!” That is not a foreign feeling. We’ve all been there. God tells us in Scripture to come to Him when we are tired and He will give rest. We find ourselves constantly going back to this verse when we think we can’t go anymore, when we physically don’t want to get in the car to drive to Ignite or Shubee. Life is crazy, and adding 10 to 15 students to the mess on a Wednesday or Friday night makes life that more exhausting. We love that you are on our team, but we do not want you to burn yourself out. Please remember that as you are tired and thinking, “I can’t take one more week of this,” --you can. Because you are changing the lives of these students in the midst of this crazy world, you can. We receive phone calls from parents all the time telling me how much their son or daughter is enjoying our student ministries and how much they appreciate you! I know you might not hear it directly from parents, but they are so grateful for you pouring God’s love into their child’s life. We want this to be an encouragement to you to push through. You are so crucial in the lives of these students. Please know that your students love you and they desperately need you in their life to encourage them. We love you and thank you for all you do to serve God in student ministries.
